So the thing is.. (version II)

Fathers are getting arrested for defaulting on maintenance payments - it seems that our legal systems are in place to deal with that. But what about mothers ignoring court orders? Is P.A.S, no or little contact between fathers and children not more harmful to our children?...

News24.com reports today that “A total of 220 child maintenance defaulters were arrested in the Western Cape in October”.

My question to the SAPS is:
It is great that you bring fathers like these to book, or is it not maybe more harmful to children when:

1. being kept away from dad by mom?
2. constantly being alienated from dad and his extended family? (P.A.S)
3. why is it OK for mom to ignore court orders regarding contact, arrangements, medical, school… but if maintenance is paid late (part of the same order), it is not OK?

Should you not maybe put some focus on getting your systems in place, other than maintenance issues? They are after all more harmful to children!

We do have a NEW Childern’s Act!
